How the visa on arrival works

Indian passport holders do not need to apply at an embassy for a short holiday. The visa is issued when you land at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar.

India is not on the visa-free list, so you cannot enter without a visa on arrival or another valid visa.

  • Before immigration, go to the visa on arrival payment desk
  • Show your passport and pay IDR 500,000; keep the receipt
  • At immigration, hand over your passport, boarding pass, receipt and customs declaration
  • The officer puts the visa sticker in your passport

  • Your boarding pass
  • The electronic customs declaration, completed online within three days before arrival

Where At an immigration office (Kantor Imigrasi) in Bali, such as those in Jimbaran or Denpasar.

Over 60 days You need a different visa, applied for at an Indonesian embassy or consulate before you travel.

Paying the visa fee

The fee is IDR 500,000, roughly US$35. Paying in rupiah is simplest; if you pay in dollars, the counter’s exchange rate may not be in your favour.

Visa and Mastercard are accepted, but carry enough cash as a back-up.

Rupees are hard to change in Bali. Bring some US dollars and change them at authorised money changers after you land.
