Why Bali is easier from India now

For years, getting to Bali meant a change of plane in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok. Non-stop flights from Indian cities have cut the trip to around eight hours.

Bali’s Hindu-Balinese culture feels familiar to many Indian travellers, and vegetarian food is easy to find.

This guide covers the practical side: flights, the visa on arrival, rupees to rupiah and what to eat. Each topic links to a full guide.

Vegetarian food in Bali

Most local dishes can be made without meat: ask for ‘tanpa daging’. Tempeh and tofu are everywhere.

Try gado-gado, a vegetarian nasi campur, sayur urab or tempeh manis. For Indian food, Queen’s Tandoor and Gateway of India have several branches.

The GoFood and GrabFood apps deliver vegetarian and Indian meals to your hotel or villa.
